Bufflehead Landing
Depending on your point of view the Great Blue Heron can seem graceful/ almost ballerina like or just plain prehistoric/like a creature out of Jurassic Park? In any case they are an interesting bird to watch in their natural habitats!
Snowy Owls typically migrate down to Washington State every 5-7 years depending on food availability. I encountered this amazing bird just after sunrise one very cold winter morning on Damon Point located in the coastal town of Ocean Shores. He/She flew directly at me at one point staring intently as if challenging me to a game of chicken! Thank you for viewing, voting and /or any constructive comments!

Spent a couple hours lying in the prone postion (waiting until the light was just right) to get this shot. Hard to beat the low angle when it comes to capturing a more intimate view into this magnificent birds world...hope you like it! You may want to view this on a black background! Thank you to everyone that took a moment to stop by and view, vote and/or leave constructive comments!
Male Wood Duck...this shot required a little time lying in the prone position out in the cold. I was rewarded for my efforts though when he momentarily floated out into what I thought was some nearly perfect lighting and I had the good sense to press the shutter. Thank you for stopping by to view, vote and/or leave constructive comments! You'll of course want to view this on a black background!
I was lucky enough to catch a close-up low angle frame of this male Mallard Duck as he was just inches over the water...the light was pretty sweet as well! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments! Viewing on a black background would be best.
This female Sumatran Tiger decided to move her 2 month old cub to a safer location as tigers do by gentlly holding the little one by the scruff of the neck in her mouth! Thanky you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Snowy Owls are fierce and efficient hunters and with an adult wingsan of up to 52 inches and sharp talons they can be a bit intimidating. I came across this one as he was hunting near the beach just as the sun was rising near Damon, Point in the coastal town of Ocean Shores, Washington.

This Bald Eagle was soaring high over the Nooksack River (seen in the background) on an early winter morning hunt for spawning salmon. The Nooksack River is located in the Mt Baker region in Northern Washington State near the Canadian border. This area is near the town of Deming, Washington and is believed to have the largest concentration of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states during the salmon runs. This is a natural light image of a female wood duck as she swam in a pond on a late afternoon. As I lay on the ground framing the shot it appeared as though she was just floating on a mirror. *Viewing on a black background is recommended. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
I liked the backlight on this pair of mallard ducks. The male"wingman" was not about to let the female get to far out of his sight! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Caught this Snowy in some pretty sweet light as the sun was coming up at Damon Point, Ocean Shores Washington. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
This guy was intently locked in on some spawning salmon as he hunted for breakfast along the Nooksack river near Deming, Washington. The town of Deming is located in the Northern part of Washington State near Mount Baker and the Canadian border. This area is one of the very best places to view eagles in the wild in the lower 48 states. The light on this morning was fantastic and I was fortunate that he flew by close enough to catch this shot! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or andy constructive comments!
Portrait of a Spectacled Owl (named that way because of the framing around it's eyes). I really liked the lighting and background here...hope you like it as well! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Some beautiful early morning light really popped the colors on this in-flight mallard duck captured near the shores of Lake Washington in Seattle, Washington. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Very curious red-capped cardinal found hidden in some intesting foliage. The colors and angles (V shapes) repeated throughout the composition really caught my eyes...his too apparently! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
