One in a series of twilight/sunrise images that I made a couple of summers back and just never got around to processing. This is a blue hour version of Mount Rainier reflecting into lower Lake Tipsoo (taken just a few minutes prior to sunrise). Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Picture Lake reflection of Mount Shuksan at sunset.
A beautiful Fall evening at the Columbia River Gorge. The mighty Columbia River (fourth largest river by volumn in the United States) seperates the borders of Washington State and the State of Oregon. This image is taken from the Washigton side. This is a shot of the rolling wheat fields of the Palouse taken from the top of Steptoe Butte in Eastern Washington State. I thought that this early spring perspective (beginning of the growing season) made for some interesting textures and view of the water canals winding through the farmlands! Golden Spring Sunset in the Skagit Valley with a peek of Mount Baker in the Background
Beautiful Sunrise with a bonus layer of light fog over the Skagit Valley Tulip Farms in Washington State
My first time out for Rowena Crest overlooking the mighty Columbia River in Oregon. At 4:00 AM I had the extreme good fortune of seeing my new photog friend Bronwyn pull into the parking lot. My humble thanks go to her for sharing her secret locations and techniques for capturing this amazing scene! Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to view my work, for voting and/or for any constructive comments!
This shot was taken from the Women's Forum Park, located in the Columbia River Gorge area in the state of Oregon. This iconic view of Crown Point, Vista House is looking to the east down the mighty Cloumbia River. Even though it is a favorite location for many photographers to shoot from I thought we caught some pretty spectacular clouds and light as the sun was setting on this particular evening! You may want to view this on a black background! Thank you to everyone who took a moment to stop by and view, vote and or leave constructive comments!
Subalpine gardens of Paradise meadows, Mt. Rainier National Park. The view is looking East at the sun-kissed Tatoosh Range from the base of Mt. Rainier (approx. 6500 ft. level). Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to view my work, for voting and/or for any constructive comments!
Early Autumn Sunset of Mt. Shuksan reflection into Picture Lake. Please view on a Black background! Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to view, vote and/or leave constructive coments!
Winter sunset from classic Tunnel View (aka Discovery View), Yosemite National Park. We lucked out with some pretty interesting cloud and low hanging fog formations on this particular evening! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
This is a replacement for a similar image that I posted a few months back. Shortly after posting that first file I reailzed that it was out of focus! Anyway, I really liked the light and cloud mix in this classic sunset winter Tunnel Vew. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
This is another shot taken from Yosemite tunnel view last winter during our Christmas roadtrip! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Another (wider & earlier) image from my Yosemite series. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
My first take on another classic spring sunset composition from Steptoe Butte located in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington state. I really liked the compression effect resulting from the long lens, hopefully you will to! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments.

Another often shot composition from atop Steptoe Butte in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington State. I thought I would post this sunrise version of a similar composition (taken the day before at sunset) that I posted few ago) so that those interested can get an idea of the light variation. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
So many interesting compositions overlooking the wheatfields of the Palouse from Steptoe Butte. I thought this one was a bit different and really showcased the first of the sunrise light raking across that amazing rolling landscape...hope you like it! Thank yoou for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
One more from last spring at Steptoe Butte/Palouse region of Washington State. Thought the dust trail added a fun element juxtaposed with some pretty awesome rolling hills/lights & shadows. I'm off to the Southwest (Moab, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Page, Sedona, etc. for a few days (my first visit,... so I'm hopeful I can do it justice and come back with at least a few decent shots to share)! As always, many thanks for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Another from the Steptoe Butte / Palouse collection from last spring. The wide variety of compressed landscape compositions and shadow / light play conditions always makes this place a treat to visit and to photograph! Thank you for visiting, voting and for any constructive comments!
Thought I'd brighten things up a bit with another image (dug out of the archives from last spring) of the rolling wheat fields of the Palouse! Looking forward to return visit this year! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Wheat farm as seen from an offshoot of Steptoe Butte. Though a fairly common composition from here we just couldn't resist the gorgeous sunrise light casting shadows across the rolling hills! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
I took this sunset image of Mount Rainier from the shore of Bench Lake a couple of days ago...my first trip there! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
This well known tarn is located in the Northern Cascade mountain range (Cascade Pass) of Washington State. At an elevation of around 5,700 ft. there is still no snow so far this year but I thought the autumn colors with Liberty Bell mountain in the background made for a nice composition anyway. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Just back from a quick roadtrip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons... my first visit to both! As you can see we were able to catch some of the fall colors and even had some nice clouds. Amazing places, can't wait to get back there when I can spend a little more time exploring. Hope you enjoy! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments.
Another image from our roadtrip to the Grand Tetons/Yellowstone last month. This reflection shot was taken from the water level, as you can see we got some pretty nice clouds and full autumn colors...hope you like it! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any consrtuctive comments!
A view of Canary Spring which is part of the Travertine Terraces located in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone National Park....one amazing, ethereal landscape! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments
Things didn't look too promising weatherwise when we first arrived at the Green River Overlook area for an evening sunset shoot. About an hour before this shot was taken things were totally socked in and it was snowing (lightly but steadily). Just as we were about to give up the snow suddenly stopped falling and we started to see a few breaks in the sky/clouds with some beautiful light rays raking acrooss the canyon floor..this is the result. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
My first trip to the Southwest so naturally I had to try my take on a few of the classics...patience please! My buddy Tom Smith and I definitely enjoyed this very beautiful morning and view from Mesa Arch. We especially liked meeting and visiting with the many other photographers who made the trek there for the same reason...didn't appear that anyone left disappointed! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Classic view of Totem Pole, Monument Valley. We had a great experience exploring and navigating through this restricted area with our Navajo guide, Marvin! Thank you for viewing, voting and /or any constructive comments!
Ah yes, yet another shot from Mile Post 13 on the highway (US 163) to Monument Valley...otherwise known as "Forrest Gump Point". Always a favorite of photographers, it was made even more famous in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump. As this was my first visit to the southwest I just couldn't resist adding my take!
The Mittens, Monument Valley - Navajo Tribal Park taken at sunrise. East and West Mitten Buttes together with Merrick Butte form this classic triangle. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
One of the most photographed places on the planet for sure but since this was my first visit I couldn't resist! We only had one evening at Horseshoe Bend and fortunately for us we ended up with some pretty interesting light/clouds/sky just as the sun dipped over the horizon. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Abstract of the famous "Indian Chief Head" of lower Antelope Canyon. Thank you for viewing, voting and or any constructive comments
Lower Antelope Canyon Arch...really liked the textures and reflective light in this oft shot composition. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
A common Steptoe Butte composition for sure but thought I'd add my take on the "Lone Cottonwood Tree". Just loved how the light/shadows and curvy llines came together on this particular spring evening! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Over Memorial Day weekend I was finally able to work in a quick road trip over to Steptoe Butte...just love that place this time of year. Among it's many other other amazing geographical features, Death Valley is world-famous for the incredible size, shape, and exposure of "alluvial fans" similar to this one as seen from Zabriskie Point. Thank yo for viewing, voting and or any constructive comments.

Abstract from our recent tour of Lower Antelope Canyon. A challenging place to photograph no doubt, along with all the other visitors/photographers, but if you work fast you can always find great reflective light compositions and meet new friends. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Caught some stormy skies during our recent trip to the Grand Canyon. On this partiucular evening the clouds, thunder, lightning, hail, rain and wind combined to provide amazing scenes like this one! Thank you for viewing, voting and /or any constructive comments!
This very interesting lenticular cloud formed over Mt. Rainier during the dawn/twilight hour. Looked a bit like an alien spacecraft decending on the mountain as we viewed it from our perspective on the edge of Lake Tipsoo. Also visible (near the top left side of the mountain itself) is a row of lights from climbing parties attempting their early morning ascent/summit! Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
Autumn colors, snowy peaks and reflections....just loved the view from here. Thank you for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
I decided to try a photography workshop this fall with Aaron Reed Photography http://www.aaronreedphotography.com. The entire exoerience was great! Aaron is a seasoned pro and put on an excellent workshop all the way through! I highly recommend him and his company! Conditions in the Tumwater Canyon area mostly along Highway 2 / Wenatchee River could not have been better as well for fall color, flow and dramatic weather! Thanks to Aaron"s energetic, encouraging and creative approach we had great fun and came away with some nice photographs! Thank you Aaron!
